WHAT IS MACOHA?
Macoha is a statutory corporation that was established to empower people with disabilities to enable their participation and integration in social-economic activities both in their communities and the country
Mission
MACOHA’s mission is to implement government policies by providing rehabilitation programs and services and promoting public interest towards the empowerment of people with disabilities in order to achieve an inclusive society. Council’s interventions are in the areas of education, health, livelihoods and social inclusion.
WHAT DOES MACOHA DO?
Macoha empowers people with disabilities through its rehabilitation programs to be independent and also to show their abilities. It strives for disability mainstreaming which places emphasis on employment of persons with disabilities in all sectors; the public and private sector.
MACOHA reaches out to people with disabilities through rehabilitation programs some of which are:
1. Community Based Rehabilitation programs (CBR)
2. Vocational training; Kamuzu Vocational rehabilitation and training centre (KVRTC)
and Lilongwe Vocational Training Centre (LVTC)
3. Production Units (Bangwe factory)
4. Settlement Schemes for the visually impared (Chinguluwe-Salima, Rivi-Rivi-Balaka and Ndakwera-Chikhwawa
